This tool runs entirely in your browser; your data is never sent to a server.

How to use

  1. 1Add a shoe with its name, lifespan goal (default 700 km) and any distance it already has.
  2. 2After each run choose the shoe, date and distance in km and save.
  3. 3Watch the progress bar for total and remaining km and the status label for replacement time.
  4. 4Download your data as CSV, and import the CSV on another device to restore it.

How many miles do running shoes last?

Most brands and coaches suggest 300–500 miles (500–800 km). Lightweight racers and carbon-plated shoes sit near the low end, durable daily trainers near the high end. Heavier runners, heel strikers and those who run on hard surfaces wear shoes faster. Research does not give a hard limit, so treat the distance as a reminder and decide on the shoe’s condition. The tracker records kilometres; 700 km is about 435 miles.

How the alerts work

Once the total (starting km plus logged runs) reaches 80% of the goal the label changes to “Replace soon”, and at 100% to “Time to replace”. Deep creases in the midsole foam, worn-through outsole rubber, a collapsed heel counter or new aches after runs are also signs. Rotating two or three pairs can extend the life of each.

Where your data is stored

Entries live in your browser’s localStorage; no account is needed and nothing is sent to a server. Clearing browser data deletes them, so download a CSV now and then. The CSV has shoe, lifespan goal, date and km columns and opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.

Frequently asked questions

When should I replace my running shoes?

Usually after 300–500 miles (500–800 km). Replace them sooner if the cushioning feels flat, the outsole is worn through or new knee or calf pain appears.

How long do carbon-plated racing shoes last?

Most super-shoe foams lose noticeable performance after about 200–300 miles (300–500 km), so many runners save them for races and key sessions.

Will my shoes show up on another device?

No, data stays in this browser. Download the CSV and use “Import CSV” on the other device.
