Per 90 Calculator

Turn season totals into per-90-minute stats and compare two players on equal terms.

Player A

This tool runs entirely in your browser; your data is never sent to a server.

How to use

  1. 1Enter minutes played and totals such as goals, assists, xG, xA and shots.
  2. 2Switch on the comparison and fill in a second player.
  3. 3Read each stat as a total and per 90; the better value is highlighted in green.
  4. 4Check derived stats such as goal involvements, minutes per goal and goals minus xG, then copy the table.

Why per 90 matters

Raw totals favour players who play more. Per 90 = total × 90 ÷ minutes played puts everyone on the same time base. For example, 14 goals in 1,840 minutes is 0.68 goals per 90, while 12 goals in 2,310 minutes is 0.47. It is the simplest fair way to compare an impact substitute with a regular starter.

xG, xA and goals minus xG

xG (expected goals) estimates the chance that a shot becomes a goal, and xA the chance that a pass becomes an assist. A positive goals − xG means the player has scored more than expected, which may be finishing skill or luck and tends to shrink over time. xG models differ between data providers, so take both players’ numbers from the same source.

Beware small samples

Per-90 numbers under 900 minutes (about ten full games) are volatile: one two-goal game can transform them, and the calculator flags this. It works just as well for scouting reports, fantasy football decisions or tracking players in youth and grassroots leagues where you collect the totals yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate goals per 90?

Multiply goals by 90 and divide by minutes played. 10 goals in 1,800 minutes: 10 × 90 ÷ 1,800 = 0.5 goals per 90.

What is minutes per goal?

How often a player scores on average: minutes played ÷ goals. 10 goals in 1,800 minutes is a goal every 180 minutes.

Where can I find xG data?

Many stats sites and match reports publish xG. Because models differ, use the same source for every player you compare.

How many minutes is a reliable sample?

There is no hard rule, but values under 900 minutes swing a lot; 1,500 minutes or more is much more stable.
