Why size matters
Skis that are too long or a stiff snowboard make turning hard for beginners, while gear that is too short feels unstable at speed. Glove weight in ounces protects both your hands and your training partner; 14–16 oz is the usual choice for sparring. Racket grip size and string tension affect comfort and elbow health.
Use calculators as a starting point
Size charts combine height, weight, ability and riding or playing style into a range. The DIN setting on ski bindings is safety-critical: the calculated value is for information only and must be set by a qualified ski technician. Trying equipment before buying is always worth it.
