How to use
- 1Optionally list your teams so sides that haven’t played yet still appear in the table.
- 2Enter one result per line as “Home 2-1 Away” or “Home - Away 2-1”.
- 3Set the points for a win, draw and loss, and pick the rule for teams level on points.
- 4The table re-sorts instantly – copy it and share it with your league.
Goal difference vs head-to-head
Goal difference is goals scored minus goals conceded across all matches. Head-to-head only looks at the games between the teams that are level on points. The Premier League and most UK competitions separate teams on goal difference and then goals scored, which is the default “Goal difference → goals scored” option. Leagues such as LaLiga and Serie A look at head-to-head results first; the “Head-to-head → goal difference” option builds a mini-table from the matches between the tied teams (points, then goal difference, then goals scored) before falling back to overall goal difference and goals scored.
Points and other tie-breakers
Three points for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss is the football standard and the default here. You can change it – 2-1-0 for an old-school or youth league, or whatever your competition rules say. “Goals scored → goal difference” suits tournaments that want to reward attacking play. For an official league, always check the exact tie-break rules in your competition handbook for the current season.
From schedule to standings
Lines copied from the league schedule generator in the “Home - Away” format can be pasted straight in: lines without a score count as not played and won’t throw an error, so just add “2-1” to the end of each line as games are played. The Form column shows each team’s last five results as W, D or L in the order you entered them. Everything is saved in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Who finishes higher if teams are level on points?
It depends on the rule you pick: with goal difference, the team with the better goal difference (then more goals scored) goes higher; with head-to-head, the team with more points from the games between the tied sides goes higher. If everything is equal, teams are listed alphabetically.
How is head-to-head calculated?
Only the matches between the teams level on points count: points from those games first, then goal difference in them, then goals scored in them. If it is still level, overall goal difference and goals scored decide.
What format should I type the scores in?
“Riverside Rovers 2-1 North End United” or “Riverside Rovers - North End United 2-1”; a colon (2:1) works too. Spell each team name the same way on every line.
Can I use it for basketball or volleyball?
For simple tables, yes – change the points (e.g. 2 for a win, 1 for a loss). Sport-specific tie-breakers such as set ratio or points percentage are not calculated.
