- 4Type a target rate to see the wins in a row you need and the losses you can afford while staying on target.
How win rate is calculated
Win rate = wins ÷ games × 100. With 58 wins, 12 draws and 50 losses, counting draws as half gives (58 + 6) ÷ 120 = 53.33%. Ignoring draws gives 58 ÷ 108 = 53.7%, and counting them as non-wins 58 ÷ 120 = 48.33%. Most games do not count a draw as a win; in chess a draw is half a point.
How many wins to reach a target?
After n straight wins your rate is (W + n) ÷ (G + n). Setting that equal to the target gives n = (target × G − W) ÷ (1 − target). In the example, reaching 60% takes 20 wins in a row. The more games you have played, the harder the number moves; after hundreds of games a few wins only shift the decimals.
What is a good win rate?
When matchmaking pairs you with equal opponents, win rates drift towards 50% over time. A rate a little above 50% while climbing is normal. Short streaks mislead; judge on at least 50–100 games.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate win rate percentage?
Divide wins by games played and multiply by 100. 30 wins out of 50 games is 60%.
Do draws count in win rate?
It depends on the game. Chess counts a draw as half a win; most games do not count it as a win. The tool lets you pick either method or ignore draws.
How many wins to go from 50% to 60%?
With 50 wins in 100 games you need 25 wins in a row: (50 + 25) ÷ 125 = 60%.
