How to use
- 1Type your squad, one player per line.
- 2Enter the number of players on the field (including the goalkeeper), match length and number of periods.
- 3Choose the goalkeeper; with two keepers, pick the second one to share the periods.
- 4Review the grid, copy the substitution list or print it for the touchline.
How equal minutes are guaranteed
The match is divided into equal blocks within each period. In every block the outfield players with the fewest minutes so far go on; on a tie the player already on the pitch stays, so there are no unnecessary changes. In “Auto” mode the number of blocks is chosen so that, where possible, everyone gets exactly the same time: for 7v7 with 1 goalkeeper and 9 outfield players over 2 × 25 minutes, three blocks per half (8.3 min) give every outfield player 33.3 minutes.
Rolling subs and small-sided formats
Most grassroots and youth leagues allow unlimited rolling substitutions in small-sided football (5v5, 7v7, 9v9), but match lengths differ by age group and league, so enter the length your league sets. The times in the grid are targets: swap players at the next natural stoppage, and a few seconds either way won’t matter. Many clubs follow an equal-playing-time policy at younger ages; a printed plan makes it visible to players and parents.
Goalkeepers are planned separately
The goalkeeper is not part of the outfield rotation. With one keeper they play the whole game; with a second keeper selected, one plays the first period(s) and the other the remaining period(s), and the keeper change shows up in the list. Leave the goalkeeper empty for basketball, futsal rotations without a fixed keeper or any format where everyone rotates.
Frequently asked questions
How do I give every child equal playing time?
Enter the squad, players on the field and match length; the tool creates a substitution plan that equalises outfield minutes and lists who comes on and off at each minute.
Why aren’t the minutes exactly equal?
If you set the number of blocks manually, the squad may not divide evenly into them; the difference is then at most one block. “Auto” finds an exact split whenever one is practical.
Can I use it for basketball?
Yes. Don’t select a goalkeeper, set 5 players on the court and 4 periods; minutes are spread across the quarters.
Can I print the rotation?
Yes. “Print” opens a clean page with the grid and substitution list, ready for A4 or Letter paper.
