Large fighting game tournaments commonly play best-of-3 sets, moving to best-of-5 in the final stages. If the player count is not a power of two, the top seeds get byes. Decide in advance whether both control types (Classic and Modern) are allowed.

How to use

How many matches does each format take?
A single round robin with n players has n×(n−1)/2 matches: 15 for 6 players, 28 for 8. Home and away doubles that. A knockout needs one match fewer than the number of players (7 for 8 players), but eliminated players are done early. Groups + knockout is the most balanced choice for one evening: 8 players split into 2 groups and the top two of each reach the semi-finals.
Points and tie-breakers
A win is worth 3 points and a draw 1. Level on points, the table looks at goal difference, then goals scored. If you enter a draw in a knockout match, the tool asks who went through, so you can record extra time or penalties. Two-legged ties use the aggregate score. In fighting games (Tekken, Street Fighter) enter the games won in the set.
For LAN cafés and office events
With one console a tournament takes a while; short on time, use single-match groups or several consoles at once. Fixtures and scores are stored in your browser, so closing the page loses nothing. Cast the screen to a TV and everyone can follow the table. Use the random club picker to hand out teams fairly and the prize pool calculator if there is money on the line.
